Big events during June, 2020 include...
Summer Camps for Kids - Summer camps are starting. For the best choice and pricing, now is the time to get your kids signed up for the camps and activities they will enjoy during summer vacation. 2020 Virtual Summer Reading Adventure - June 1 through July 31, 2020. This year's theme is "Imagine Your Story," and the Library has been reimagining the summer program to offer new virtual and interactive programming and services all summer. The program for young readers and pre-readers is geared towards helping young children build reading and language skills. The Library will also offer virtual programs to help motivate teens to read and discuss literature, and to encourage adults to experience the joy of reading. For other fun free stuff going on at the libraries, refer to "Free Events and Programs at Washoe County Libraries." Guided Walking Tours from HRPS - June, 2020 walking tours canceled. A decision is pending on tours and activities for the remainder of 2020. Reno 1868 FC Soccer - Saturday, June 6, 2020, 7:15 p.m. Reno's pro soccer team plays the Rio Grande Valley FC Toros at Greater Nevada Field. The next home game is on June 20 vs. New Mexico United. Reno Aces Baseball - Revised schedule pending. Nevada State Fair - Canceled. Plans to reschedule, but dates not yet announced. Thursday through Sunday, June 4 - 7, 2020. The Nevada State Fair will be held at Mills Park in the Nevada state capital of Carson City. Family friendly as always, the event will have all the fun things to do fair goers have come to expect, from a midway carnival and rides to livestock and lots of entertainment. Fairgrounds entry and parking are free. Street Vibrations Spring Rally - Canceled and postponed until June, 2021. Friday through Sunday, June 5 - 7, 2020. The annual event will feature live entertainment, bike games, competition ride-in shows, poker run, more than 80 vendor booths, and participant parties for registrants. The event is open and free to the public and will be centered in downtown Reno. Virginia City will host a poker walk, live entertainment, VIP bike parking and more. Reno Harley-Davidson and Battleborn Harley-Davidson will host open houses and special promotions. Public Swimming Pools and Water Play Places - Many opening in June. Check out all of the water fun available in Reno, Sparks, and other places in Washoe County. When the heat's on, head for the water. Discover Your Parks Walks - through September 24, 2020. Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation is leading free walks in different parks located in Washoe County. These walks start at 6 p.m. on Thursday evenings and vary in distance from half a mile to 2 miles. Each week, you can explore a new location and learn about the unique and varied ecology and history of parks in our area. Walks are open to all. Call (775) 453-0698 for more information. Food Truck Events - Opening delayed until July or August, 2020. Come enjoy fun family evenings and get great food at the same time. The main food truck gatherings in Reno are "Feed the Camel" on Wednesdays at McKinley Arts and Culture Center and "Reno Street Food - Food Truck Friday" at Idlewild Park on Fridays. As far as we can tell, openings for both events have been delayed. Hands ON! At Home - Saturday, June 13, 2020. Since Hands ON! Second Saturdays is canceled while the Nevada Museum of Art is closed, you can enjoy the program at home and engage in simple art practices using basic art supplies and household objects. Great Eldorado BBQ, Brews & Blues Festival - Postponed. New dates TBA. Friday and Saturday, June 12 - 13, 2020. The Great Eldorado BBQ, Brews and Blues Festival is equal parts barbecue block party, microbrew tasting event with more than 50 microbrews from around the world and music festival with two stages featuring nonstop rock and blues. It's free to attend and enjoy the sights, sounds, and music in downtown Reno, but you'll have to bring money for the brews and BBQ. Reno Restaurant Week - June 17 - 24, 2020. Come dine at more than 40 food and drink establishments (including breweries and distilleries) in Reno, Sparks and elsewhere in Northern Nevada. For Reno Restaurant Week, each establishment is serving a special cocktail, signature dish, prix fixe menu, tasting flight or something else. Net proceeds benefit three organizations: Reno Ice, which is raising money for an ice sports arena in South Reno; Step 2, a provider of substance abuse treatment for women; and Veterans Guest House, which houses military families when veterans are receiving medical care in Reno. (775) 527-2023. Reno Wine Walk - Postponed until further notice. Saturday, June 20, 2020. The Riverwalk Merchants present this fun event every third Saturday of the month. Visit any of the participating merchants with $20 and receive your wine glass and hand stamp (with photo ID), then make the rounds sampling wines at numerous businesses in the area. This is a 21+ event. Pets and strollers are not advised. For more information, call 775-825-WALK(9255). Father's Day - Sunday, June 21, 2020. There are lots of fun things you can do to treat your Dad on his special day. 3rd Thursday in downtown Sparks - Postponed until further notice. Thursday, June 18, 2020, 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Come to Victorian Square every third Thursday of the month for food trucks, local artists, cooking demo, and a free movie in the Sparks Amphitheater. Tour the museum, train and schoolhouse for free. Reno Rodeo - Canceled and rescheduled for June 17 - 26, 2021. Thursday through Saturday, June 18 - 27, 2020. The Reno Rodeo is a huge event with lots of activities and things to do for the whole family in addition to the rodeo itself. You don't need to be a buckaroo to enjoy the fun and action at the "Wildest, Richest Rodeo in the West." This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Reno Rodeo. Quilt Show Reno - Canceled. Thursday through Saturday, June 11 - 13, 2020. Quilt Show Reno includes a large vendor mall, workshops, lectures, make-it-take-it projects, free stage venues, demonstrations and presentations. At the Grand Sierra Resort, Silver State Pavilion, 2500 E. Second Street in Reno. Hours 10 a.m. 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. First Day of Summer - Saturday, June 20, 2020. Sierra Nevada Lavender & Honey Festival - Canceled. Rescheduled for June 27, 2021. Saturday and Sunday, June 22 - 23, 2019, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. This "scent-sational" event features all things lavender and honey along with arts and crafts, food, demonstrations, music, entertainment and more. At Victorian Square in Sparks. Monthly Reno Beer Crawl - Likely canceled since it requires bars to be open. Saturday, June 27, 2020. This event is in downtown Reno where all of the participating bars, pubs, and restaurants are within walking (or crawling) distance. It costs $5 to participate and you can just show up at one of the start bars - advance tickets not required. Crawling is from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
