Reno, Sparks, Washoe County, UNR, and the State of Nevada have numerous services and programs for our senior citizens. Senior Services from the City of Reno Connecting Seniors Newsletter is a free quarterly publication containing information about community events, programs, classes, and activities of particular interest to local seniors. It is available online at City of Reno Seniors, and can be picked up at many Reno recreation facilities, including Northeast Community Center, Neil Road Recreation Center, Teglia's Paradise Park Activity Center, Washoe County Senior Center and the Downtown Reno Library. City of Sparks Senior Center & Programs are held at the Sparks Senior Citizens Center and offered through Washoe County Senior Services. Washoe Senior Ride Taxi Bucks Program - a program that can be used to help cover the cost of taxi rides and tips, helping seniors maintain their mobility and independence. The program is a service of the Regional Transportation Commission (RTC). (775) 348-0477. Senior Discounts - What the magic age to qualify for a variety of senior discounts is depends on who you are dealing with. May is Older Americans Month - In Reno, Sparks, and throughout Washoe County, May has numerous events and activities for senior citizens in recognition of Older Americans Month. Senior Fest - This free annual event is held in September. Senior Fest features services and local businesses that cater to the needs of senior citizens in the Reno area.
