Big events during July, 2020 include...

Artown Opening Night - Wednesday, July 1, 2020. It's a virtual event starring the performers who would otherwise be doing shows at the large outdoor venues (which are not happening in 2020).

Discover Your Parks Walks - Thursday, July 2, 2020. Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation is leading free walks in different parks located in Washoe County from April through September, 2020. This first July walk will be at Crystal Peak Park. Others will be on July 9, 16, 23 and 30. Walks start at 6 p.m.

4th of July Fireworks and Celebrations - Saturday, July 4, 2020. All big fireworks shows are canceled, but there are a few activities going on around the area..

Reno Aces Baseball - No baseball. The entire Minor League Baseball season for 2020 has been canceled.

Biggest Little City Wingfest - Postponed. Downtown Reno will host the 7th Annual Biggest Little City Wing Fest. This event brings over 80,000 attendees and serves over 20,000 pounds of chicken wings. This year's event will feature finger lickin' chicken wings, free live entertainment on outdoor stages, street faire vendors and local celebrity wing judges.

Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival - Canceled.

American Century Championship - Wednesday through Sunday, July 8 - 12, 2020. The 31st annual American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament will be at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course near South Lake Tahoe and Stateline. Players have been Charles Barkley, Larry the Cable Guy, Roger Clemens, John Elway, Andre Iguodala, Heather LeMaster, Dan Quayle, Bret Saberhagen, Joe Theismann, Michael Waltrip, and many, many more. This is a live TV event, but no live spectators are allowed.

Reno 1868 FC Soccer - Season postponed. First home game is on Saturday, August 8, 2020. Reno takes on the Tacoma Definace at Greater Nevada Field. The next home game is on August 15 vs. the Portland Timbers 2.

Second Thursday Talk at the National Automobile Museum - The Lunar Roving Vehicle, The Most Innovative (and Expensive) Car Ever Built - Thursday, July 9, 2020. The talk will be held virtually via Zoom. It's from 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. It's free to attend and your speaker is Paul McFarlane. Visit the website to signup and get the Zoom link.

Virtual Annual Art Paws - Sunday, July 19, 2020, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Art Paws is Artown's only event specially for pets (i.e., dogs) and their people. The event is free and will be conducted online.

Barracuda Championship PGA Golf - Monday through Sunday, July 27 through August 2, 2020. Enjoy Reno's PGA golf tournament, the only one in northern California / Nevada. The tournament is played at Tahoe Mountain Club's Old Greenwood golf course in Truckee, CA. This is a charity event with live television coverage on the Golf Channel, but no on-site spectators this year.

Night in the Country Music Festival - Canceled. Thursday through Saturday, July 25 - 27, 2019. Nevada's longest running country music festival is held in Yerington. This year, the festival will bring in big-name artists with Luke Combs, Brothers Osborne, Aaron Watson, Whiskey Myers, The Wild Feathers, Read Southall Band, Travis Denning, Jobe Fortner and lots more. The main stage will feature several acts each night. There is on-site camping and lots of partying at the Full Moon Saloon. (775) 463-5114.

2020 Carson City Fair - Friday through Sunday, July 24 - 26, 2020. Featuring 4-H and FFA youth, agriculture, antique tractors, a carnival, vendors, entertainment, demolition derby and more. The event is at Fuji Park, 601 Old Clear Creek Road in Carson City. Check the Schedule of Events for details.

Northern Nevada Pride Parade and Festival - Saturday, July 25, 2020. Canceled. The parade begins at 10 a.m. and will travel down California Avenue starting at Hill and ending at the festival. The festival will be at Wingfield Park with entertainment on two stages until 6 p.m. Admission is a $5 donation. Everyone is invited. Proceeds benefit the local LGBT community center.

Sparks / Reno Water Lantern Festival - Saturday, July 25, 2020, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. At Sparks Marina Park, 300 Howard Drive in Sparks. This is a family friendly event that can be shared by everyone. Friends, families, neighbors, and lots of people that you haven't met can come together to create a peaceful, memorable experience. Water Lantern Festival brings people together to Light The Water in a magical night that includes food, music, and beauty as the lanterns reflect upon the water. Tickets available online.

Great Community Clean-Up - Sunday, July 26, 2020, 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Jointly sponsored by Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful (KTMB) and Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation (TMPF). Join us at Idlewild Park and the proposed Truckee Meadows Nature Study Area (TMNSA) for wetland restoration and park beautification. For Idlewild Park, meet at 50 Cowan Drive. For TMNSA, meet at 6800 Pembroke Drive. You can signup to volunteer online. Registration is limited and all participants must follow COVID-19 policies. More information will be provided upon successful completion of the registration form.

Neighborhood Stories from Historic Reno Preservation Society - July 26, 28, 29, 30, 2020. Neighborhood Stories provide a new perspective on Historic Reno Preservation Society (HRPS) annual walking tours, which have been canceled for the 2020 season. Signup online to hear these stories. Past stories are recorded and available tor listening as well.
