Big events during July, 2024 include...

2024 Summer Reading Challenge - through July 31, 2024. This year's theme is "Adventure Begins at Your Library." Washoe County Library uses Beanstack for all our reading challenges. Visit our Beanstack page to create an account online. If you previously created an account, you may sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge beginning May 1. To help keep track of your reading between logins, pick up a reading log from any Washoe County Library branch or download one from the webpage. For other fun free stuff going on at the libraries, refer to "Free Events and Programs at Washoe County Libraries."

Artown Opening Night - Monday, July 1, 2024. Artown opening night is at Wingfield Park and features Scythian, which has grown to be a headliner on the US Celtic Festival Circuit as well as a name in the Bluegrass/Americana Festival Circuit. This is a free show, from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. The park venue opens at 5 p.m. This is just the beginning of Artown, with things to do, see and enjoy through July 31.

Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival - June 28 - August 25, 2024. Come to Sand Harbor at Lake Tahoe to enjoy Shakespeare performances and other entertainment. These shows are held in what's been called America's most beautiful venue. The main play this year is "The Merry Wives of Windsor." Guided Walking Tours from HRPS - Tuesday, July 2, 2024. The first guided walking tour in July from the Historic Reno Preservation Society is "Country Club Acres" at 6 p.m. Several more walks are scheduled for Tuesdays and Saturdays in July. Join in to learn about many aspects of Reno's colorful history.

Plastic Free July - The Plastic Free July website is a great motivator and resource to start your plastic-free lifestyle. To learn more about plastics in the Truckee Meadows and how you can help ease the amounts of plastic you use, visit KTMB's blog page. Patriotic Pops at the Field - Wednesday, July 3, 2024. Gates open at 6 p.m., opening act at 6:30 p.m. and concert at 8 p.m. Get ready to feel your heart swell with pride as the orchestra strikes up a rousing rendition of your favorite, red, white, and blue tunes. The musicians will take you on a journey through America's rich musical heritage, performing iconic patriotric and pops songs from across this nation's history. Tickets are available online. Summer Music Series at Lazy 5 Regional Park - Wednesday, July 3, 2024. Today's show is by the David Perez Band. Other concerts with a variety of entertainers will follow on Wednesday evenings through August 14. Concerts are free and begin at 6:30 p.m. Bring the family and a picnic to enjoy the show. No pets, smoking or glass containers allowed. Lazy 5 Regional Park is at 7100 Pyramid Way out in Spanish Springs.

Great American Craft Fair July 4th Celebration - Thursday, July 4, 2024, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. More that 100 handmade fine art and craft vendors. There will be food trucks in City Plaza and West Street Plaza and the Great American Parade along Virginia Street. Free admission. At donwtown Reno Riverwalk and City Plaza.

4th of July Fireworks and Celebrations - Thursday, July 4, 2024. Check out the big fireworks lighting up the skies, plus other 4th of July activities going on around the area.

Reno Aces Baseball - July 4 - 6, 2024, 6:35 p.m. The Aces take on the Sacramento River Cats for this Independence Day series, capped off with a fireworks spectacular each night.

Galena Campfire Programs - Sagebrush Rebel Trio - Friday, July 5, 2024, 8 p.m. Remember the fun had around the campfire as a kid? The Galena Campfire Programs are all about sharing that experience with the family. A different presenter is featured each week, including a variety of cultural music experiences, plus fun educational programs and marshmallow roasting. Blankets, low-back chairs, bug spray and flashlights are recommended. The programs are free, though donations are welcomed to support the program. Discover Your Parks Series - Saturday, July 6, 2024, 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation is presenting this free discovery series in different parks located in Washoe County. Celebrate summer and join us for free yoga with an instructor from Yoga Pod at Whitaker Park. Capacity is limited and you must register online from the website for each program.

Artown Event: Cellista, The Artistry of Aerial Silks - Saturday, July 6, 2024, 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Los Angeles-based Cellista is a composer and aerialist specializing in static trapeze. Joining Cellista will be aerialists from the region, creating a dazzling display of music and performance art. Free at Reno Public Market, 299 E. Plumb Lane in Reno.

Classical Tahoe - July 7 - August 4, 2024. Each summer, Classical Tahoe brings together America’s leading classical musicians for a concert series that delights audiences with its superb musicians, intimate outdoor pavilion, educational programs, and majestic Lake Tahoe settings. Artown Family Series: Circus Bella - Wow! - Sunday, July 7, 2024, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Experience the mesmerizing magic of WOW! - a captivating blend of circus enchantment and madcap mayhem. American Century Championship - Wednesday through Sunday, July 10 - 14, 2024. The 35th annual American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament will be at Edgewood Tahoe South golf course near South Lake Tahoe and Stateline. Players have been Charles Barkley Tony Romo, Larry the Cable Guy, Roger Clemens, Stephen Curry, John Elway, Andre Iguodala, Heather LeMaster, Dan Quayle, Bret Saberhagen, Joe Theismann, Michael Waltrip, and many, many more. Hands ON! Second Saturday at the Nevada Museum of Art - Saturday, July 13, 2024. Come to the Nevada Museum of Art for fun for the whole family, including storytelling, art activities, live performances, and all current exhibits. Admission to the Museum is free for all on Second Saturday. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Sierra Nevada Lavender & Honey Festival - Sunday, July 14, 2024, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. This "scent-sational" event features all things lavender and honey along with arts and crafts, food, demonstrations, music, entertainment and more. Free at Idlewild Park in Reno.

Artown Event: Big Amygdala - Sunday, July 14, 2024, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Powerhouse singer/songwriter supergroup Big Amygdala is the creative brainchild of Joel Ackerson (vocals, guitar, mandolin), Justin McMahon (vocals, guitar), and Kevin Brunet (vocals, bass). Free at Reno Public Market, 299 E. Plumb Lane, Reno.

Barracuda Championship PGA Golf - Monday through Sunday, July 15 - 21, 2024. Enjoy Reno's PGA golf tournament, the only one in northern California / Nevada. The tournament is played at Tahoe Mountain Club's Old Greenwood Golf Course in Truckee, CA. This is a charity event with the actual tournament played from July 18 through July 21. Tickets are available online.

Artown Event: Music from Deserts - Wednesday, July 17, 2024, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Music from the Deserts is Santa Fe-based composer, saxophonist, and video artist, Chris Jonas' latest project and album. The project explores music and video created while winter camping in the remote Sonora Desert. He is joined by Delbert Anderson, a Diné jazz trumpet artist, composer, and educator. Free at Reno Public Market, 299 E. Plumb Lane, Reno.

Junior Naturalist Program from Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation - Saturday, July 20, 2024, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. This month the program is "H2O Heroes," at Callahan Park in southwest Reno. Junior Naturalists will explore hydrology with fun games and activities. This outdoor program is for kids of all ages and it's free. You can register online.

Artown Event: SambaDá - Saturday, July 20, 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. Get ready to move your feet and immerse yourself in the vibrant rhythms of Brazil as SambaDá takes center stage. At Reno Public Market, 299 E. Plumb Lane, Reno

24th Annual Art Paws - Sunday, July 21, 2024, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Art Paws is Artown's only event specially for pets (i.e., dogs) and their people. We will have activities, contests, local craft beer, food trucks, and everything else you need to spend a memorable day with your furry best friend. The event is free and will be held at the McKinley Arts & Culture Center, 925 Riverside Drive in Reno.

Night in the Country Music Festival - Thursday through Saturday, July 25 - 27, 2024. Nevada's longest running country music festival is held in Yerington. This year, the festival will bring in big-name artists with Randy Houser, Riley Green, Bailey Zimmerman and lots more. The main stage will feature several acts each night. Biggest Little City Wingfest - Friday and Saturday, July 26 - 27, 2024. Downtown Reno will host the 8th Annual Biggest Little City Wing Fest. More than 20,000 pounds of chicken wings will be slathered in sauce, smoked, fired and grilled to perfection. The competition will be fierce during two days of a sauce show down. This year's event will feature free live entertainment and a craft fair, camel rides, face painting, bungee jumping and lots more. Along Virginia Street in downtown Reno.
