Groundhog Day - On Sunday, February 2, 2025, Punxsutawney Phil will see his shadow, or not. Depending on which way it goes, Phil's 100% accurate powers of prediction will indicate an early spring or six more weeks of winter. Reno-Tahoe Senior Winter Games - February 3 to February 14, 2025. "Age is no barrier" at the Reno-Tahoe Senior Winter Games. The Games feature a series of competitions organized in Olympics fashion, with gold, silver, and bronze medals awarded to the top three finishers in each event. There are both individual and team competitions. Registration is now open for both individuals and teams. The basic fee is $40, plus an additional fee for specific events. Come in from the Cold Family Entertainment Series - Saturdays, February 1, 8, 15, 22, 2025. "Come in from the Cold" is held on Saturday evenings in the Western Heritage Interpretive Center at Bartley Ranch Regional Park in Reno. These family-friendly shows provide welcome relief from the frosty weather during the depths of winter. The 2025 series is in January, February, and March. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. with performances starting at 7 p.m. Seating is limited, so arriving early at this popular event is a good idea. "Lost World of Dragons" at the Wilbur D. May Museum - through April 27, 2025. An interactive exhibit exploring the histories of these legendary beasts and the cultures that celebrate them. The exhibition features nine life-size animatronic dragons with realistic movements and sound, as well as interactive displays that take guests through the stories of dragons. Special group rates are available. The entry fee is $13 for adults, $11 for children 3 to 17 and seniors. Kids under 3 are free. Hours are Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 12 noon to 4 p.m. The museum located in Reno's Rancho San Rafael Regional Park. Student Outreach Clinics from UNR - Geriatric and Dermatology Clinic - Saturday, February 8, 2025, 8 a.m. to 12 noon. The Geriatric Clinic provides services and care to the elderly population. The Dermatology Clinic provides quality care and medical service to patients with any problems related to the skin. Clinics are by appointment only. Second Saturdays at the Nevada Museum of Art - Saturday, February 8, 2025. Come to the Nevada Museum of Art for fun for the whole family, including storytelling, art activities, live performances, and all current exhibits. This month's theme is "Color Me in Love." Admission to the Museum is free for all on Second Saturdays. 2025 City of Reno Junior Ranger Program - Saturday, February 8, 2025, 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. This program is a fun way for participants of all ages and abilities to connect with nature, learn new skills, and enjoy the great outdoors in our beautiful parks. Some of the events will be hiking, touring the nature gardens at Valleywood and Idlewild, basic bike safety and maintenance, fishing, stargazing, and more. Super Bowl LIX (59) Parties - Super Bowl Sunday 2025 is on Sunday, February 9. It will be played at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, LA. There are lots of big parties in the Reno area where you can enjoy food, drink, and cheer for your favorite team with lots of other fans. The half-time show will be headlined by Kendrick Lamar. Free history presentations from Historic Reno Preservation Society - Sunday, February 9, 2025, 12 noon. "Old Reno Home Movies." The video program from the family home movies begins with a "Welcome to Nevada" introduction, then moves to 1920-1930s downtown Reno and what is often referred to as the Redfield House. Presented by Richard Hill. At the Downtown Reno Library, 301 S. Center Street. Heart Beat of Reno Festival - Friday through Sunday, February 14 - 16, 2025. 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. Friday, 4:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. Saturday, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Come celebrate love at the Heart Beat of Reno Festival, a three-day Block Party extravaganza featuring over 45 of Reno's best house DJs, interactive art and activities, local vendors, delicious food, much more. Five venues on E. 4th Street in Reno. Visit the website for details. Valentine's Day Dining and Activities - Friday, February 14, 2025. There are romantic Valentine's Day dining opportunities available, along with other fun things to with your sweetheart. February Junior Naturalist Program from Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation - Saturday, February 15, 2025, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This month, we'll be at Golden Eagle Park and themed "Energizing Nature." Junior Naturalists will explore the science of energy with fun games and hands-on activities. The program is free, but you must register to attend. Reno Wine Walk - Saturday, February 15, 2025, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The Riverwalk Merchants present this fun event every third Saturday of the month. Visit any of the participating start merchants with $30 and receive your wine glass and hand stamp (with photo ID), then make the rounds sampling wines at numerous businesses in the area. This is a 21+ event. The theme this month is "Love Bites." Pets and strollers are not advised. For more information, call 775-825-WALK(9255). President's Day - Monday, February 17, 2025. Schools, libraries and government offices will be closed. Social Science: Spells and Incantations - Saturday, February 22, 2025, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wands at the ready? Alohomora! Prepare to explore science inspired by the wizarding world. Create a custom wand, formulate a magic potion, find the golden snitch, play Sonorus Bingo, and a whole lot more. 21+ event. At The Discovery Museum, 490 Center St. in Reno. Tickets available online. Advance ticket purchase strongly recommended for this popular event. Ice Skating at the Grand Sierra Resort - season ends on Sunday, March 2, 2025. Ice skating is also available at the Jennifer M. O'Neal Community Ice Arena is south Reno. North Lake Tahoe SNOWFEST! - February 26 through March 9, 2025. SNOWFEST is a ten day winter festival supporting local non profits, public programs, student organizations, and educational scholarships. Just a few of the events include the Tap Haus Block Party, SnowFest Fireworks, Polar Bear Swim, Tahoe City Dog Pull, Milk Jug Curling, SnowFest Street Fair, Wine N Ice Sculpture Competition and lots more. Located in Tahoe City and King's Beach. Washoe County Library Book Sale - March 22 - 30, 2025. Sales are in the book store next door to the Sierra View Library in the Reno Town Mall. This is your chance to get big bargains on books and other media while supporting your Washoe County Library System. Sale hours are every day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Preview day for Friends members is on the Friday before each sale period, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. If you aren't a member, you can join Friends at the door.
