The 2024 Primary Election in Washoe County and Nevada is on Tuesday, June 11. All registered voters in Washoe County will receive a mail-in ballot. Candidates and Offices in the Washoe County 2024 Primary ElectionThe Washoe County Registrar of Voters provides a list of offices and candidates that will be voted on by eligible registered voters in the 2024 Primary Election. There is further information in the form of candidate profiles. Only basic information is provided for those candidates who have chosen not to submit more details. Some of the contested offices on the ballot are U.S. President and Vice President, U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, State Senate and State Assembly, Washoe County Commissioners, Washoe County School Board Trustees, and Reno and Sparks City Councils. 2024 Primary Election Early VotingEarly voting in Washoe County for the 2024 primary election is every day from May 25 - June 7, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Refer to "Early Voting Locations and Hours" for a list of locations throughout Washoe County. 2024 Primary Election Day VotingThere will be numerous locations for voting in person on election day. Ride Free on RTC Transit Services on Primary Election DayIn partnership with the Washoe County Registrar of Voters, the RTC is offering free transit service to everyone to be able to reach polling locations on June 11, 2024. Check route and schedule information as not all polling locations are served by transit. Nevada holds Closed Primary ElectionsIn Nevada, two political parties - Democratic and Republican - are considered major parties for the purpose of conducting elections. Nevada primary elections are "closed," which means if you are registered to vote with a party affiliation of either Democratic or Republican, you may vote only for candidates from your own party and you may also vote in nonpartisan contests. Voters registered with any other party affiliation (or none) may vote only in nonpartisan contests. Ballot questions are not voted on in the primary election. In the general election in November, all voters get to choose from among all candidates who are running for their local, statewide, and federal offices and on ballot measures.
