Happy New Year! - Wednesday, January 1, 2025.

Come in from the Cold Family Entertainment Series - Saturdays, January 11, 18, 25, 2025. "Come in from the Cold" is held on Saturday evenings in the Western Heritage Interpretive Center at Bartley Ranch Regional Park in Reno. The 2025 series is in January, February, and March. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. with performances starting at 7 p.m. Seating is limited, so arriving early at this popular event is a good idea. A $5 per person donation is requested at the door. The January 11 performance is by The Birches.

Hands ON! Second Saturday at the Nevada Museum of Art - Saturday, January 11, 2025. Come to the Nevada Museum of Art for a day of fun for the whole family, including storytelling, art activities, live performances, and all current exhibits. Admission to the Museum is free for all on Second Saturdays. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

"Lost World of Dragons" at the Wilbur D. May Museum - January 11 through April 27, 2025. An interactive exhibit exploring the histories of these legendary beasts and the cultures that celebrate them. The exhibition features nine life-size animatronic dragons with realistic movements and sound, as well as interactive displays that take guests through the stories of dragons. Special group rates are available. The entry fee is $13 for adults, $11 for children 3 to 17 and seniors. Kids under 3 are free. Hours are Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 12 noon to 4 p.m. The museum located in Reno's Rancho San Rafael Regional Park.

Free history presentations from Historic Reno Preservation Society - Sunday, January 12, 2025, 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. "Tahoe Tidbits" presented by Jim Bonar. Whether you call it Lake Tahoe, Lake Bigler or the Lake of the Sky, it is one of America's scenic and historical gems. Jim Bonar will take us on a trip around the lake in the early 20th century and share a collection of old photos and videos of the lake and some little-known tidbits. At the downtown Reno library, 301 S. Center Street.

Student Outreach Clinics from UNR - General and Pediatric Clinic - Saturday, January 18, 2025, 8 a.m. to 12 noon. Services for adults include screenings and diagnosis, lab services, x-rays, EKGs, blood pressure monitoring, some treatments, and referrals. Services for patients aged 18 and younger include Head Start physicals, sick child visits, well-child checks, and nutrition counseling. By appointment only. To schedule, call (775) 391-0632 or email studentoutreachclinic@med.unr.edu. Clinics are held at the University Health Building, 745 W. Moana Lane in Reno.

Reno Wine Walk - Saturday, January 18, 2025, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The Riverwalk Merchants present this fun event every third Saturday of the month. Visit any of the participating start merchants with $30 and receive your wine glass and hand stamp (with photo ID), then make the rounds sampling wines at numerous businesses in the area. This is a 21+ event. The theme this month is Winter Fest. Pets and strollers are not advised. For more information, call 775-825-WALK(9255).

January Junior Naturalist Program - Saturday, January 18, 2025, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Junior Naturalist Program is a free outdoor program for children of all ages to learn about local parks, plants, animals, and the environment. Parent/guardian required. Join us at Rancho San Rafael Regional Park to travel "Back to the Future." Naturalists will explore paleontology and geoscience with fun games and hands-on activities. Sponsored by Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day - Monday, January 20, 2025. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is an official national holiday observed across the country, with most federal and local government offices closed for the day. There are celebrations and activities to celebrate the day in the Reno area, plus ways you can volunteer as part of the concurrent Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service.

Free Days at National Parks - The first free day in 2025 is Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, January 20, 2025. There are several more during 2025. There are many free days on USFS and BLM land as well. Enjoy your public lands and save money while doing it.

Love Notes Short Romance Film Competition - begins January 15, 2025. Whether it's a sweet love story, a quirky rom-com, a tale of passion and heartbreak, or even a bad romance we welcome creators of all levels to participate and share their unique vision of love. We provide three prompts: a line of dialogue, a sound effect, and a prop. Your film should be between 5 and 9 minutes. Screenings and award ceremony at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City on February 8, 2025.

Wild and Scenic Film Festival 2025 - Saturday, January 25, 2025. Doors open 5:30 p.m., films start at 6:30 p.m. Join us for an evening packed full of thought-provoking, funny, entertaining, and informative films centered around the environment, wildlife, and the enduring human spirit. All proceeds from this event will help support The Black Rock Desert-High Rock Canyon Emigrant Trails National Conservation Area through Friends of Black Rock-High Rock's stewardship, education, and outdoor recreational programs. At the Whitney Peak Hotel in downtown Reno. Tickets available online.

43rd Annual Robert Burns Celebration - Saturday, January 25, 2025, 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. The celebration includes a whisky tasting courtesy of Breakthru, dinner (including that most Scottish of dishes... haggis), presentation of the Scot of the Year, Highland dancers, and a performance by Sierra Highlanders Pipe Band. This event honors the life and works of the renowned Bard of Scotland, Robert Burns. Prepare yourself for a night like no other as we transport you to the heart of Scottish tradition and culture. At the Grand Sierra Resort, 2500 E 2nd St. in Reno.

Brew HaHa 2025 - Friday, January 31, 2025, 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. This lively event, happening on January 31st, is not just any party - it's Sierra Arts Foundation's biggest fundraiser of the year, all in support of empowering local artists and their craft. Sip and savor over 100 unique brews and spirits from the best regional breweries and distilleries. Wander through the colorful and eclectic Artist Village, where 50+ talented local artists will dazzle you with their creations. Tickets available online. This 21+ event is at the Nugget Casino Resort, 1100 Nugget Ave. in Sparks.

Reno-Tahoe Senior Winter Games - February 3 to February 14, 2025. "Age is no barrier" at the Reno-Tahoe Senior Winter Games. The Games feature a series of competitions organized in Olympics fashion, with gold, silver, and bronze medals awarded to the top three finishers in each event. There are both individual and team competitions. Registration is now open for both individuals and teams. The basic fee is $40, plus an additional fee for specific events.
