Grossology at the Wilbur D. May Museum - January 3 through April 26, 2015. Yuck! That's the likely reaction kids (and adults) will have while visiting the "Grossology: The (Impolite) Science of the Human Body" exhibit at Reno's Wilbur D. May Museum. Have fun while being grossed out.

Winter Trails Day - Saturday, January 10, 2015. Winter Trails Day is an annual one-day free event where you can try snowshoeing and/or cross country skiing at participating ski resorts and parks in the Lake Tahoe region. People new to these sports will learn how easy it is to get started, pick up information about buying needed equipment, and get information about places to enjoy being outside during winter.

Come in from the Cold Family Entertainment Series - starts on Saturday, January 10, 2015. "Come in from the Cold" is held on Saturday evenings in the Western Heritage Interpretive Center at Bartley Ranch Regional Park in Reno. The 2015 series is in January, February, and March. The doors open at 5 p.m. with performances starting at 7 p.m. Seating is limited to 200, so arriving early at this popular event is a good idea.

Reno Wine Walk - Saturday, January 17, 2015. The Riverwalk Merchants present this fun event every third Saturday of the month. Visit any of the participating merchants with $20 and receive your wine glass and hand stamp (with photo ID), then make the rounds sampling wines at numerous businesses in the area. This is a 21+ event. Pets and strollers are not advised. For more information, call 775-825-WALK(9255).

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day - Monday, January 19, 2015. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is an official national holiday observed across the country, with most federal and local government offices closed for the day. There are celebrations and activities to celebrate the day in the Reno area, plus ways you can volunteer as part of the concurrent Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service.

Monthly Reno Beer Crawl - Saturday, January 24, 2015. This event is in downtown Reno where all of the participating bars, pubs, and restaurants are within walking (or crawling) distance. It costs $5 to participate and you can just show up at one of the start bars - advance tickets not required. Crawling is from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Reno Wild Life at Chapel Tavern - Beginning on Wednesday, January 28, Chapel Tavern will host a monthly event named Reno Wild Life (RWL) to celebrate the vast array of outdoor adventure found in the region. RWL is a benefit for non-profit organizations that support both the environment and those who revel in it. On the last Wednesday evening of each month, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., outdoor films featuring sports from around the area will be shown on a big screen while Chapel serves up their signature libations, craft brews and biodynamic wines. Raffle prizes provided by RWL event partners Patagonia and local outfitters related to the sport being highlighted that night will be given away. A minimum $5 suggested donation to the nonprofit of the evening will receive a raffle ticket and $20 will get you five tickets. Moment Skis will be screening the Poor Boyz Productions film "Twenty" for the inaugural event. Chapel Tavern is in midtown at 1099 S. Virginia Street. The info phone is (775) 324-2244.

Reno-Tahoe Senior Winter Games - Now is the time to sign up for this series of Olympic-style competitions. The Games are open to citizens 50+ and will be held from February 2 through 14, 2015. The deadline for mailed entries is Friday, January 23, 2015. The deadline for drop off entries is Sunday, January 25, 2015.

Super Bowl XLIX - Super Bowl Sunday 2015 is on February 1. There are lots of big parties in the Reno area where you can enjoy food, drink, and cheer for your favorite team with lots of other fans.
