Daylight Saving Time ends - Sunday, November 3, 2019. Set clocks back 1 hour.

Artisan Show & Sale - Friday and Saturday, November 1 - 2, 2019. Thirty artists from northern Nevada, including Reno, Sparks and Carson City, will be featured at the 25th annual Reno Artisan Show and Sale at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Northern Nevada. Featuring pottery, watercolors, jewelry, stained glass, basketry, photography, textiles, drawings, candles, print making and more. Admission is free and twenty pieces of original art will be given away. 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship is located at 780 Del Monte Lane in Reno.

Reno premiere of Warren Miller's 2019 ski movie "Timeless" - Friday, November 1, 2019, 6:30 p.m. High Fives Foundation will be showing Warren Miller's 70th winter film, "Timeless," along with their documentary film "Ten Years of Safety." The evening will include winter sport vendors, raffle prizes and celebrity athletes. The show will be at the Reno Ballroom, 401 N. Center Street. Tickets are $20 and available online.

Wags & Whiskers Gala - An Evening in the Northern Lights - Saturday, November 2, 2019, 6 p.m. Nevada Humane Society's Wags & Whiskers Gala celebrates the love of pets. The event takes place at Peppermill Resort in Reno. Tickets are $200 per person; Tables of 10 are $2,000; and VIP tables of 10 with cocktails and recognition in event communications and marketing are $3,000. See website for additional ticket options. All proceeds benefit homeless pets at Nevada Humane Society.

Free Fall Photo Hikes - Saturday, November 2, 2019. Join Washoe County park rangers to explore some of the Reno area's most scenic hiking trails. These hikes provide amateur photographers and hiking enthusiasts with the opportunity to capture their own spectacular fall photography. This final hike in the series is at Crystal Peak Park in Verdi.

Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) - Saturday, November 2, 2019, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The Latino Research Center (LRC) at UNR is hosting its annual free community event. The celebration will take place on the UNR campus in the Joe Crowley Student Union, Ballrooms. Everyone is invited to participate and observe the rich heritage of this event through a variety of activities for participants of all ages.

Carmel of Reno hosts 41st Annual Print Shop Open House - Sunday, November 3, 2019, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. In addition to Christmas cards, there will be a full selection of all occasion cards, matted prints, original art works, CDs and hand-crafted Christmas décor, all created by the Carmel of Reno sisters. 1950 La Fond Drive, Reno.

Community Engagement and Collaborative Archaeology at Stewart Indian School - Sunday, November 3, 2019, 12:30 p.m. The Stewart Indian School in Carson City, Nevada, established in 1890 as a federally mandated residential school, attempted to remove Native children from approximately 200 tribal communities and assimilate them into mainstream society. Harlem Globetrotters in Reno - Wednesday, November 6, 2019, 7 p.m. A star-studded roster will have fans on the edge of their seats to witness the ball handling wizardry, basketball artistry and one-of-a-kind family entertainment that thrills fans of all ages. Chemistry of the Cocktail at The Discovery - Friday, November 8, 2019, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Prepare for an exploration of the science behind 1920s-style libations. Come as a flapper, gangster, silent film star, or come as you are and enjoy delicious fare from some of your favorite local culinary hot spots, and other 1920s-themed activities. Hands ON! Second Saturdays - Saturday, November 9, 2019. Come to the Nevada Museum of Art for a day of fun family activities and free admission for all. Enjoy free admission and activities at the Museum. Participate in hands-on art projects and storytelling. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Science Saturdays at the National Automobile Museum - Saturday, November 9, 2019. Join in on the adventures that are out of this world, with "Eating in Space." Admission is $12 per person for children and adults, which also includes admission to the Museum. For participants age 8 and up. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. 13th Annual Meet the Turkeys Open House at Rancho San Rafael Regional Park - Saturday, November 9, 2019. Celebrate the season of the turkey by bringing the family to Rancho San Rafael Regional Park for this free event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. In addition to lots of turkeys, there will be horse and pony rides provided by Lorie's Pony Express for $5, farm animals, Moolisa the milking cow, fall crafts, scavenger hunts, and activities with Discovery Room volunteers, Truckee Meadow Parks Foundation, May Arboretum Society, Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful, Urban Roots, lots of animals from 4-H clubs and Valley Amigos Ranching, and historic equipment from the Reno Antique Engine and Tractor Club. Washoe County librarians will have story time and activities. Bring your camera to take fall and Thanksgiving photos with the turkeys. Reno Veterans Day Parade - Monday, November 11, 2019. Honor our troops and enjoy this parade of ROTC groups from regional high schools, university and high school marching bands, honor guards and other groups representing all the services, other groups wanting to honor the military service of our veterans, and groups representing various veterans' organizations. The parade traditionally gets underway at 11:11 a.m. and marches down Virginia Street through downtown Reno.

2019 Polar Express on the V&T Railroad - First trip in 2019 is on Friday, November 15. Plan ahead - getting advance tickets is a must for those wanting to ride the Polar Express to the North Pole this holiday season.

Nevada Women's Expo - Friday and Saturday, November 15 - 16, 2019. Join us for a 2 day shopping extravaganza featuring a holiday craft fair and flea market bazaar. Find unique products and gift ideas. Connect with local service and nonprofit organizations. 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Tipsy Turkey Wine Walk - Saturday, November 16, 2019. The Riverwalk Merchants present this fun event every third Saturday of the month. In November, it's themed for Thanksgiving and costumes are encouraged. Visit any of the start locations with $20 and receive your wine glass and hand stamp (with photo ID), then make the rounds sampling wines at numerous businesses in the area from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. This is a 21+ event. Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event - Saturday, November 16, 2019, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Waste Management residential customers in good standing may drop off up to 50 pounds of household hazardous waste at no charge. Please bring bill or ID matching account address. Everything over 50 pounds will cost $1 per pound for disposal. The collection site is 1455 E. Greg Street in Sparks. Decorative Arms: Treasures from the Robert M. Lee Collection - November 16, 2019 through February 16, 2020. Exhibit includes more than 100 objects dating from as early as the 1500s through the modern era that showcase the skills of some of the most renowned arms makers and engravers in the world. 6th Annual Spellbinders International Festival of Magic - Thursday through Sunday, November 14 - 17, 2019. Spellbinders International Festival of Magic returns to Reno with unbelievable, mind-boggling feats of magic taking place all over northern Nevada, from the very biggest stage illusions to intimate close-up miracles, and everything in between. History of Camping in Nevada and the Sierra Nevada - Wednesday, November 20, 2019, 5:30 p.m. This presentation examines the history of camping in Nevada and the Sierra Nevada, including the development of public lands for camping and the building of campgrounds, roads, and trails. 3rd Thursdays in Sparks - Thursday, November 21, 2019, 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Every month, Sparks Museum and 39 North invite you to come downtown to Victorian Square to enjoy the museum, train and historical school house. Also on tap will be musical acts, art displays, kids activities, food trucks, vendor booths and free movies. Free admission.

Midtown Holiday Party - Friday, November 22, 2019, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Take this opportunity to say hello to your local Midtown merchants and find out what they have in store for you this holiday season. Enjoy bites and sips from some of your favorite Midtown restaurants and bars. Events will include a tree lighting ceremony, live holiday band, free hot chocolate, a caroling choir and more. Sky Tavern Ski Swap - Friday and Saturday, November 22 - 23, 2019. The swap will be at the former Sports Authority store, 4813 Kietzke Lane in Reno. New and used winter gear will be for sale at great prices - skis, boards, boots and clothes. Individual sellers can bring in gear to sell on November 21 and 22. The swap will be open to the public from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. Admission on Friday is $5 per person, $10 per family. Admission is free on Saturday. All sales benefit community efforts to get kids outside and on the slopes.

"War of the Worlds" at the Brewery Art Center - Friday and Saturday, November 22 - 23, 2019, 7 p.m. The Proscenium Players Inc. are performing War of the Worlds in the Brewery Art Center's Black Box Theatre. PPI will bring back the horror of the alien invasion story for today's audience, just as Orson Welles would have imagined it. Performances will consist of readings of the teleplay for a live audience as well as broadcast on Carson City community radio at a later date. The Brewery Arts Center is located at 449 W. King St. in Carson City.

Lake Mansion Jingles - Free Family Art Festival - Saturday, November 23, 2019, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Arts for All Nevada (AFAN) is presenting this event with art stations for kids, face painting, a free book for each child, tours of the Lake Mansion, photos and visits with Santa, and more. Families with children with special needs are invited to attend starting at 9:30 a.m. Free parking in the AFAN lot or metered parking on nearby streets. Home 4 the Holidays Craft Fair at Nevada Humane Society - Saturday, November 23, 2019, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Fair will feature a wide variety of local vendors selling handcrafted art, jewelry, and many pet related gifts and pet supplies that will make great holiday gifts for the animal lovers on your shopping list. Artists who participate will be contributing a percentage of their sales to help the homeless pets at Nevada Humane Society, 2825 Longley Lane in Reno. Admission is free. (775) 856-2000.

Headlock on Hunger - Saturday, November 23, 2019, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. This event is a night of family friendly, professional wrestling at Reed High School, 1350 Baring Boulevard in Sparks. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and admission is only $5. All proceeds will be donated to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada. Headlock on Hunger is a campaign and non-profit event that aims to raise awareness, and combat the hunger issue affecting the children of the Truckee Meadows. Tickets are available online.

Lights Up at The Summit - Saturday, November 23, 2019, 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Lights Up features a laser light show, live music, gourmet s'mores food truck, and Santa at The Center Plaza near Ulta and Vans. This event is free and open to the public. The Summit is at the corner of Mt. Rose Highway and S. Virginia Street.

Thanksgiving Day Weekend - Thursday, November 28, 2019. There are lots of things to do on Thanksgiving Day and throughout the Thanksgiving weekend.

Dining Out on Thanksgiving Day - Thursday, November 28, 2019. Reno area hotel/casinos and some restaurants put on big spreads for Thanksgiving dinner. Look these over if eating out sounds better than cooking all day and then cleaning up.

Monthly Reno Beer Crawl - Saturday, November 23, 2019. This event is in downtown Reno where all of the participating bars, pubs, and restaurants are within walking (or crawling) distance. It costs $5 to participate and you can just show up at one of the start bars - advance tickets not required, but you can buy tickets online if you wish. Crawling is from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Enjoy holiday food and drink demonstrations. Santa will visit from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day and there will be activities for kids, plus holiday performances by local groups. Wolf Pack Football - Saturday, November 30, 2019. The Nevada Wolf Pack football team takes on the UNLV Rebels in the "Battle for the Fremont Cannon." This intra-state rivalry is always a big game. This year, it's in Reno at Mackay Stadium. Kickoff is 12 noon. Go Pack!

Small Business Saturday - Saturday, November 30, 2019. Forget the Black Friday shopping frenzy after Thanksgiving. Use your shopping time and dollars to support locally owned businesses in the Reno area - keep your money here in the Truckee Meadows to improve our own economy and support your friends and neighbors rather than faceless corporations sucking money out of Nevada. The Small Business Saturday website has information for both business owners and shoppers.

Son of a... Buttcracker 9 - November 29 - 30 and December 5 - 7, 11 - 14, 18 - 21, 2019. Shows start at 7:30 p.m. Matinees on December 8 and 18 start at 2 p.m. What began as a Brüka parody of "The Nutcracker" has evolved into a regional cult classic, offering a different underbelly to the original ballet each year it is performed. This years theme explores re-creation with a wink to Mary Shelly and an observance of neologisms that dynamically flavor a new holiday conversation for the millennium. Advance tickets are $26 for students/seniors/military, $28 general admission. All tickets are $30 at the door. Reservations are available through the box office at (775) 323-3221. 11th Annual Tree Lighting at the Outlets at Legends in Sparks - Saturday, November 30, 2019, 6 p.m. Kick off the holiday season with the Outlets at Legends 11th Annual Tree Lighting ceremony outside the north doors of Scheels. Bring the family and enjoy a free holiday concert. After the performance, Santa will make an appearance and officially kick off the holiday season by the lighting of the tree, followed by a fantastic fireworks show. The first 250 kids will receive a special gift.

Northern Lights Tahoe - November 29 through December 31, 2019. This festival of lights features the north Tahoe communities of Incline Village and Crystal Bay. There will be many special activities at various venues during the festival, including concerts, a Santa crawl, opening day at Diamond Peak ski resort, holiday craft fair, holiday sing-a-long, and lots more. Note that some activities are adults only. Check the website for a complete schedule of events.

NeoRealismo: The New Image in Italy, 1932 – 1960 - through December 29, 2019. This extraordinary photography exhibition poignantly portrays life in Italy before, during, and after World War II. The display also includes film excerpts by such notable directors as Federico Fellini, Roberto Rossellini, and Luchino Visconti, alongside related movie posters. Free admission. Exhibit is at arte italia, 442 Flint Street in Reno. Gallery hours are Friday through Sunday, 12 noon to 5 p.m.
