Brüka Theatre 2009-2010 17th Anniversary Season For more information, visit http://www.bruka.org/ or call 775-323-3221. 25th Annual Bowers Mansion Bluegrass Festival - August 13 - 15, 2010 Reno, NV - The 25th Annual Bowers Mansion Bluegrass Festival takes place the weekend of Aug 13-15. The weekend opens at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 13th with a free open-air concert at the Davis Creek Park Amphitheater. The main Bowers Mansion Bluegrass Festival takes place from 9:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. on Saturday, August 14th on the Bowers Mansion grounds on old Hwy 395 in Washoe Valley. Gate opens at 9 a.m., Cost $15 adults, $3 kids 2-12. Seven bluegrass bands will perform. Food and craft vendors on site. Coolers/picnic baskets welcome (no glass containers). Lake Tahoe Music Festival - July 22 - Aug. 7, 2010 Reno, NV - The Lake Tahoe Music Festival proves to be a summer value with tickets from $25 for performances in the six-concert series highlighting classic rock, R&B, country, Broadway and Pops. Brüka Theatre presents Dog Meets God - July, 2010 Reno, NV - Brüka Theatre proudly presents DOG SEES GOD: CONFESSIONS OF A TEENAGE BLOCKHEAD. Meet the characters from the Peanuts comic strip, ten years later. Writer Bert V. Royal re-imagines the ingenious characters that contradict their younger comic-strip selves and places them in a world full of controversy. Violence, sexual identity, drugs, and even suicide; Dog Sees God will take both teen and adult audience members to a world that they know all too well, and asks the question: Is there afterlife after high school? Androo Allen directs this follow-up to the Peanuts Gang now, deep into their acne phase, in a play about their teenage years, their misery isn't all that delightful anymore. A pyro ex-girlfriend, a stoner best-friend, a confused goth sister, a duo of drunk mean girls, a homophobic germaphobe, and a bullied pianist, engulfs "CB" in this hilarious yet dark comedy, and along the way takes him on a journey through self-discovery and peace of mind. Village at Squaw Valley's Brews, Jazz & Funk Fest - August 14 - 15, 2010 Olympic Valley, CA - For one weekend in summer, The Village at Squaw Valley USA is going to become one of the funkiest places around Lake Tahoe during the 9th Annual Brews, Jazz & Funk Fest on Saturday, August 14 and Sunday, August 15. Some of the most recognized jazz, blues and funk favorites of this era perform at the event, which takes place in The Village Plaza from 2 to 8 p.m. each day. Fans enjoy continuous live music on two stages in a spectacular setting at the base of the mountain while sampling offerings of more than 20 breweries, including hard-to-find micro and macrobrews. Music fans will gather to appreciate two days of concerts by top-notch artists playing against a backdrop of majestic scenery. While listening to the entertainment from well-known national musicians as well as local and regional favorites, attendees can taste selections from breweries such as Full Sail, New Belgium, Deschutes, Rouge, Lagunitas, Mammoth, Lake Tahoe Brewing, Fat Tire, Fox Barrel, Samuel Adams, Stone, and Primator. Kids also are welcome at the event, which will feature Sky Jump Bungee Trampolines, 18-holes of Miniature Golf, a Climbing Wall and Ropes course. Admission is $5 and beers are $4. Proceeds from the event benefit the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe. Beers are available for $4, entrance donation of $5 is requested this year also. Festival goers are encouraged to bring their BJF glassware from years past, as this year’s brews will be poured into corn compostable cups. River Walk Wine Walk - Visit the historic Lake Mansion The Riverwalk Merchant's Association is pleased to bring you Wine Walk on the Riverwalk, the third Saturday of every month from 2 PM - 5 PM. Customers can purchase a MAP and WINE GLASS for $20 and taste over a dozen different wines at merchants throughout the River Walk.
